I can remember having a most sincere conversation with my father while choosing my subjects for Year 11...."Mmm....computers" he said...."no I don't need to study computers...." I quickly replied; of course I was thinking more along the lines of programming and the likes but of course my Dad was onto it.....

In years 11 and 12 I typed the majority of my assessments up on my 'much treasured' electric typewriter (which I still have today and have used recently at work for labelling files in my filing cabinet.....not just for the shock factor..hee...hee!"; a look of terror crossed my CEO's face ... "We don't still own one of those do we?".... "No" I grinned "but I do!"

When I went on to Uni of course the progression started...first apple macs, then IBM, then further down the road to my career I became immersed in Windows 98 (Notepad, Write)....the Internet (surf's up!! ~ Internet explorer, Netscape, Anzwers, Web Wombat).....Y2K ("am I ever gonna see your face again?).......Windows 2000 (Word, Excel)....(Eudora).......Windows XP (Microsoft Outlook, Access, Publisher)......Vista.....

What's next??? Blogs, Wikis, Mp3, Ipods, (forgot mobile phones....the best!)....Flickr....Virtual Libraries.....tomorrow the world....

Mental note to self......always 'listen' to our elders, the decision is ultimately ours, but their opinions and life experience are very precious.....as is modern technology!!
